Fresh from their Dean’s Cup 2018 victory during the 37th MSU College of Law Founding Anniversary, the Iligan Extension’s Debate and Moot Society, representing MSU College of Law is set to embark on a new challenge to showcase their skills on a national level.
The stage is set on April 8, 2018 as the Debate and Moot Society goes head on with San Beda College of Law on the 15th Season of the ANC Square Off: The Firm Debates. The bold debaters namely Vouge Vernal Orcullo (Nexus EIC), Ivy Pantaleon (Nexus Assoc. Editor), and Janodin Marohombsar are on full blast as they prepare to face different law schools in one of the country’s premier debate competition.
Participants of the ANC Square Off: The Firm Debates are law school debaters from various universities around the Philippines debating on important socio-political issues dominating the Philippine landscape. The issue at hand delves on the Constitutionality of the withdrawal of the Philippines from its membership in the International Criminal Court with MSU taking the affirmative side and San Beda on the negative.

Over the Holy Week, the debaters we’re trained by no less than our outstanding Dean Zed Ditucalan himself and all are on high hopes and very confident that they are up to the challenge and ready to bring it on.
This is Dean Zed’s message to our talented debaters: “To Jano, Ivy, and Vogue, I know you all prepared for this debate. Good luck and make us all proud!”
Nonetheless, who couldn’t be more prouder than Asst. Dean. Anabelle Mindalano who have witnessed this milestone of the new Debate and Moot Society. It’s a beginning of new and exciting ventures into different debate competitions that will surely put MSU Law as one tough competitor to beat.

Marija Kara “Cooki” Trinidad is a planeteer, a corporate employee for a Tech company, a 5th yr law student, and a mother of two boys. Cooki has lobbied and is lobbying for more environmental policies in the region. She gives webinars on sustainability, climate change, and the zero waste movement. She has also published an article about the plastic ban ordinance in The Philippine Star, has been nominated for Rappler’s MovePH award on Environment and Sustainability, and is a finalist of the Philippine Youth Leadership Program (PYLP 17/18). She is a Nexus Alumni and was an Associate Editor and Writer back then.
